Wyatt is doing fantastic! He continues to melt our hearts everyday! He is such a blessing. The poor little guy underwent circumcision on Monday. He was doing okay on Monday and Tuesday, but on Wednesday night he gave us a scare. Daddy was on a business trip in Mexico until Thursday, and Mommy, Kayla, Conner and I were up later than normal. Wyatt woke up and was covered in hives, his face was 3x the size it normally is, and his ears resembled “Dumbo”. I was scared, especially when mommy told me that it can sometimes affect breathing. My mom wanted to give him Benadryl , as we thought it was an allergic reaction, but since it was only recommended for children 6 and up she wanted a doctors permission. Upon calling CHOP, where Wyatt had his circumcision, they wouldn’t recommend the Benadryl or tell mommy what amount to give him. They told us to obviously call 911, should he stop or have trouble breathing. They also suggested to call Wyatt’s pediatrician doctor. Since it was so late and a doctor had to be paged at their home and they are given 30 minutes to call back we had to wait. We tried the best we could to console him, mommy put cortisone on him, we gave him warm milk, water, mommy sang to him, and we prayed. Mommy called Daddy to tell him what was going on he prayed. Once Mommy had talked to a doctor from our pediatric doctor’s office, who gave her permission to give him Benadryl and told her an amount, she gave Wyatt some Benadryl. Kayla was holding him and all of a sudden he threw up. While that was getting cleaned up, he threw up some more. Then he suddenly looked better. It was as if God had him throw up to get whatever it was that was bugging him, out of his system. We praise God for keeping Wyatt safe and not letting his breathing be affected. Right now he has a rash a bit above his circumcision site, which the doctor believes is from them taping the surrounding area to keep it sterile, during the surgery. Please pray for his rash and circumcision to heal. Juliana is getting along better with Wyatt, in fact just the other night she started to take off his shoes for him after we came home from soccer and errands. His English vocabulary expands everyday, and he shocks us with how well he communicates. Just for fun I added “Bonjour, “Oui Oui ” and “Cherrio” to his vocabulary. Hey who said Chinese can’t speak French? :) He loves to run, ride plasma cars ( which he can’t do right now because of the circumcision), play with sand, swing, jump on the trampoline, and watch Curious George. He also love to sing “Jesus loves me” and he is really good at it. One of his new favorite snacks is seaweed that we got from our friends the Speers, who adopted a little boy from China at the same time as we adopted Wyatt. He gets lots of attention, as do all the babies in our family. His laugh and smile are precious and contagious. We love to tickle him. Everybody comments on how cute he is. He still sleeps in with my parents, but he will probably move into the boys room this summer. It is going to a lot of fun to introduce him to the pool this summer… we will need our eyes wide open to watch our crazy boy though! We love Wyatt so much!!! We are in the process of adopting another child from China. We have not been matched with a child yet. My parents estimate that they will travel to China to adopt our new addition between December and March. We are looking forward to welcoming another blessing into our home. There are so many children who need families so desperately and our family desires to rescue as many as we can. Please pray for wisdom for our family to know which child to adopt. Thank you all so much for your prayers! We love you and look forward to updating you on Wyatt and our new adoption! God bless, Lauren Haines “Wyatt is a graham cracker ( Asian), Juliana is a marshmallow ( American), Christian is a piece of chocolate ( Hispanic), and we are getting another graham cracker (Asian).” ~~~ Megan Haines “And we would love s’more ( More children of any color)”!!!!!!!! ~~~Lauren Haines
